Cafe Van Kleef is a welcome venue for local musicians of all stripes with a crowd that appreciates authentic, soulful, passionate performances.

Many a seasoned veteran has come out of retirement to savor the warm sound of the room, just like the old days, before jazz & blues clubs began to resemble museums.

Cafe Van Kleef also welcomes new artists playing contemporary origionals in an atmosphere that is truly timeless.

Cafe Van Kleef  features an elevated stage ( 4 feet high) that offers excellent site-lines for everybody in the room, whether they're sitting at the bar, or at the tables along each wall. the open space in the middle often fills with patrons dancing. the room comfortably fits crowds of fifty or more.

Owing to the excellent acoustics of this classic room configuration, many performers prefer to play "un-plugged" allowing their natural sense of tone & dynamics to shine in an age of over-amplification. To that end, a carefully chosen 500-watt PA system is available for vocalists & instruments that need support with a bright & punchy monitor wedge. up to five microphones and two direct connections are available, with a wireless receiver and microphone ready for performers who like the intimacy of performing amongst the crowd.

Cafe Van Kleef has two veteran sound techs available who care about the comfort of the performers and often go the extra-mile to see that the artist's needs are met and the sound is excellent.  For any inquiries about sound or equipment, click on the names below:
